One big vacation?

Dh and I travel every year more than once. But this year we are not in order to pay off debt and save for a house.

So, we are already talking about next year. We figure we will take one more big trip before TTC. (Sorry for oversharing)...

So, which would you pick and why?

Carribean (St. John)
Italy
Hawaii

(We have been to hawaii in the past but mostly oahu so we didn't really do it right in my opinion....we have been to st. lucia 2x that was our only carribean) Never been to Europe.

DH is leaning toward Italy, and I am leaning toward Carribean or Hawaii...I want beaches, he wants to see new things. HELP

Re: One big vacation?

IMO...ITALY

I went to st. Johns this past Nov....not exactly what i would want as a last big trip....In fact i think i would only want to stay there for 3 days MAX....maybe not even

So if you went to Hawaii already, if it were me, Italy is the obvious choice

ETA...sorry i didn't go to St. Jon...but St. Thomas and St. Maarten

Re: One big vacation?

I agree- Italy!

There are so many things to see and do there. You can travel pretty easily throughout the country. IMO, I would rather do this before I have children, as you can always take kids to the carribean with little trouble.

Re: One big vacation?

I loved Italy and Hawaii and would go back to either places in a heartbeat. Where in Italy did he want to visit? Maybe there are beaches on the coast?

Re: One big vacation?

We are doing the same thing right now and are going to Italy, or doing a Med. cruise to Italy and Greece. Maybe you should do the Italy/Greece thing because there are really nice beaches in Greece!

Of those choices I would say Italy, especially since you have been to the Caribbean and Hawaii.

I agree.

also, eventhough St. John's is supposed to be Beautiful... with many of the islands, they really do resemble each other, so if i was going to go 'allout', i would definitely pick Italy!!

Re: One big vacation?

I would choose Italy. DH and I had to make a similar decision last summer and chose Ireland because we'd both always wanted to go.

My thinking is, when you have kids, a resort in the Caribbean is a good place to go with them (i.e. Beaches, which is for families with kids) but frankly I don't see myself taking my kids to Europe for a long time. I think they would be bored (there were a couple young people on my tour of Ireland who seemed bored out of their minds).

Italy and go to Capri! Capri has beautiful beaches from what I have heard (I have never been there). This way you & DH are both happy. Chat Icon

Re: One big vacation?

I loved Italy. But in late May/June, touring cities like Rome & Florence will be very very hot.

Re: One big vacation?

Go for Europe, you have been to Hawaii and the Caribeean already. Plus, the Caribeean is easy to go to. Once you have a child, you won't want to go on a vacation so far away. So live it up now!
