Post Partum Birth Control
A few questions...
What type of contraception did you use before getting pregnant and what are you using after?
How do you feel about an IUD? Would you ever get one? If not, why not?
I really want to get an IUD...I just don't trust myself with the BCP anymore and an IUD seems like a very reliable, hormone free method of contraception. But DH is very against it. He's concerned about PID and sterlity or fertility problems later on.
Which brings me to my next question - any patch or nuva ring users out there - do you like that better than the pill?

I used the patch before and had no problems! Thankgod i will not have to worry about this anymore i am going to get my tubes tied!!!

i loved the nova ring and the patch but with the patch i was on it for like 6 months and then a month later i got a rash from it. People are differnt on that

I was on Yasmin beofre I got pregnant and I'm back on it again, although I keep forgetting to take it at the same time every day. I think I'll only be on it until next March, let my body adjust and ttc in Sept

I was breastfeeding, so I took the mini pill. I hated it, and got my period every 2 weeks while on it. So we haven't been using anything (but a prayer!).

There are risks associated with any type of BC, no matter if it's just a comparison between different types of BC pills/patches/shots.
One thing you may want to consider is that the ring is considered a lot less effective in women who've had children, typically.
I think I will be taking the IUD route this time as well because the prayer method didn't work for us!  Since I BF, I also had side effects from the mini pill that made me stop taking it. I believe many of the risks that are associated with the IUD are small and there are signs to watch for, just like taking any type of BC. As soon as an IUD is removed, you could start to TTC right away. I think the scariest thing to me is an eptopic pregnancy risk is elevated.

BF is not birth control by any means!! YOu could very easily get PG! I got my AF back after 7 weeks postpartum, even though I BF. You should look into a progesterone only pill if you are BF.
Wanted to add that my mom breastfed us, and I am only 10 months younger than my brother.

I have a friend who got pregnant on the pill her first time, the IUD her 2nd time, and the patch the 3rd time.
Granted I think she's just like fertle myrtle, but it kinda scares you!
I'm 30 weeks pregnant right now, planning on going on some sort of BC after the baby is born, but also planning on BFing at least for 6-9 months, if not a year, so I'm thinking of the IUD. I have a friend who has been on it for a few months now and hasn't had any problems. I think the biggest thing is knowing all the ins and outs of whatever BC you decide on, such as warning signs, risks, side effects, effectivenes, etc.

I LOVED the Nuva Ring!!! It was so easy and I had no side effects from it. If I wasn't planning on breast feeding I would go right back on that.

The best pill to take while BF is the mini pill. It has to be taken at *exactly* the same time every day to avoid side effects and lowering the effectiveness. Some OB/GYNS will prescribe "regular" BC, but at the risk your supply could severly suffer.

I was on the patch before I became pg and then after I gave birth I went on the shots and they made me gain some weight and after a few months I started spotting alot so I went back to the patch and I have no problems with it at all.

I have an IUD. THere are 2 types- one lasts for 5 years and the other for 10 years. They are different so your GYN will know which works best for you.
I love the IUD- no hormones, no chemicals in my body and no thought at all.
