Anyone have to travel alot for work and manage to juggle a family?
I just accepted a job offer for what seems to be the perfect position, but I am going to have to travel a few times during the year to trade shows, meetings and overseas. I would say between 4 and 8 times per year. Does anyone else on here do that, and if so, how hard is it to manage?

I do that now and I hate it!!!! It is one of the reasons why I am looking for a new job, and I don't even have kids yet. For me it has always been short notice or bad timing. Plus with my DH having to travel for work also, it is too much.

Luckily, it will not be short notice, I will have months to prepare....they even allow me to bring DH and Juliette with me if we pay their own airfare. I kind of regret in a way taking the offer, but the hours, pay, position, title and company are better in the long run. There is a lot of potential here, I can work from home when the baby is sick....I get off all of the jewish holidays-even though I am not jewish-but they coincide with a public school schedule.... I get out early on Fridays, I get to be out of the office alot....

I think since you can bring dh and the baby with you when you travel once in a while it won't be that bad. Plus if they give you advance notice that is a definite plus. After my son was born my former company was taken over by new management and they wanted me to travel a lot. It was last minute arrangements and I hated it. I took one big trip to Europe on their expense and then a couple of months later quit because they expected me to go to a sales meeting in Florida on mothers day without my ds and dh. That and other reasons with the company restrucutre was getting to me. It was the best decision for me since I now am able to work from home. I think you should try it out for at least a few months and see how you like it. They seem to be giving you a lot of other benefits which is a plus. Good luck.
