Today is Dixie's "birthday" (now with pics)
2 years ago today we adopted the sweetest doogie in the world. We use her adoption date as her birthday because we don't know her real birthday. I went to the doggie boutique and got her a doggie cookie shaped like a birthday cake.  She loved it! Plus she will get a toy when her daddy comes home. Just wanted to share.

Here are Dixie pics. They are in my photo album. Can you see them?
She has only three legs because she was hit by a car before we adopted her. Her previous owners (whoever they were) just gave her pain killers and never gave her corective surgery for her leg after the accident. She had her elbow dislocated in 4 places and walked with a limp when we got her.
NSAL was going to amputate the leg before they put her up for adoption, but then decided to place her in a loving home first. So, a few months after we adopted her she had the surgery and now she runs around pain free.

Thanks ladies, but we don't feel "special" at all. We just fell in love with her at the shelter and were like so what if she has a bad leg? I felt so connected to her when I first saw her that her leg was not a second thought. I believe with men and dogs, you can't help who you fall in love with.
ETA: I originally wanted a purebred beagle pup, but DH convinced me to go to NSAL first before we went to a breeder. I am so thankful he did.
