Christmas Crafts
Anyone want to share what they've done in the past? I'm starting to think about what to give this year since it's going to take a while with the 2 kids.
In the past I've done lots of baked stuff, velvet ornament balls and embossed velvet photo albums.
Velvet ornament balls: score a foam ball into quarters or eighths and cut a piece of velvet slightly larger and tuck into the scored cuts. stick an ornament hanger deep into where the scores meet at the top. you don't even need glue!
Embossed velvet photo albums: Buy a photo album. I got ones with cardboard covers. Emboss the velvet by lightly misting the wrong side of the fabric and laying the good side on top of a rubber stamp that is face up on your ironing board. Then put your medium heat iron on top of that (on the wrong side) and hold still for a few minutes. Then glue the embossed fabric over the cover and cover the inside part with the edges of your fabric with a piece of cardstock. I did 2 different colored pieces of velvet on the cover and hid the seam with a piece of ribbon.

When I was a kid we made reindeer heads out of clothespins. I'll try to get into my mom's ornaments this weekend to get a picture.
These snowman bookmarks are cute from Oriental Trading

Re: Christmas Crafts
last year I made ornaments.....
a simple one kids could do is take some of that confetti on a string....do you know what I mean? It's a long piece of mylar I guess and it has stars, or other shaped confetti attached...it's more used for wrapping a gift I guess......
and cut a long piece and stuff inside clear (glass or plastic) ornament. Place top back on and tie/glue a ribbon around the top.
I also made Princessmaris personalized ornaments for her family from RJ.
A serving tray.....a wooden tray....take family photos, cut pretty images from wrapping paper or decorative paper napkins and decoupage onto tray with Modge Podge. It's both a glue and sealant....you do 2 coats....one as glue, then one on top after all images have been placed on.
Also, search michaels.com or plaidonline.com for ideas.
And if you're at a loss....I'd be happy to do something for you and send it to NY.Ornaments I made Link

Re: Christmas Crafts
Did you go look at Michael's? I always just go look aroung for inspiration. We have made ornaments in the past and picture ornaments with extra pictures from school or whatever. Baking yummy treats is what my kids like to help out with.

Re: Christmas Crafts
Last year I made a scrapbook specifically for Christmas pics. Just 2 scrap pages per year - one page for our christmas photo card, the other for the kids with Santa. I went back and filled in all the years since 2002 since my first son was born. I got a scrapbook that was red, white & green plaid and embellished the front. I used different letter embellishments to say "A Very Merry (our last name) Christmas" - it really came out so cute, Im going to do one for my one GF this year. I plan on displaying it every holiday season
