Anyone sell a set of china to an "antique" store?

So when I got married my aunt gave me a full service of 12 that was her MILs. Her MIL had 4 full sets of good china Chat Icon and I got one of them as a gift. But I HATE the china, it's really not our style at all and we wont' ever use it.

How can I be sure that I'm getting a fair offer? I can't find anywhere online to value them, replacements.com offers next to nothing to buy them from you, but will charge a decent amount for the pieces if you need to fill in your set.

Thanks.

I really don't know about selling to a store-- but I had a set of very well made italian ceramic hand painted dishes that my dad gave me when he got new dishes-- they were great, but when we got the casual china we registered for- we just didn't have the space to keep the dishes- so I posted them on Craig's list.

I went on to www.replacements.com - which is a web site that sells practically every make and style of dinnerware-- casual and fine china. I found the pattern and saw how much it was selling for NEW, then reduced the price because of course what we had was used.

I got a couple of people that emailed and were interested-- but no one serious. We had to get rid of them because our move was coming up so we just gave them to our cleaning lady. So my point is-- they may not be that easy to sell.

ETA-- I didn't read your whole post-- ooops.. didn't know you went to replacements already..
