What an awful experience....RANT

We closed yesterday, but only in escrow. Too many things were wrong for us to actually close and get the keys.

a) the seller had not packed or moved anything so we could not do a walk thru
b) there was no oil to check the heat
c) they let a roof leak continue without fixing it so there are two HUGE leaks in the house now

The sellers are out of state and their attorney didn't want to give us ANY money. We finally negotiate several thousand from him, but only because I had pictures of the house at the time we made our offer and pictures from yesterdays walk thru. I told them I'd walk away from the deal if we didn't get some money. Since the sellers have already moved (they really need the money) and they clearly didn't do the right thing the lawyer finally gave in.

Then Chase bank f'd up our mortgage and sent in the wrong papers. They actually had a balloon payment with one of them!!!! So we sat there for 7 hrs and then we have to go back today to finish closing in escrow. My lawyer is charging us an additional $250 to come back today. I've been fighting with Chase all morning to have them refund us the money since it was clearly their mistake. I just got the OK that if we submit a bill, they will reimburse us for all extra lawyer fees.

What a nightmare this has been. Now we do the walk thru again on Tuesday and we'll have to fight for more escrow money. I know the seller is going to leave crap like the nasty moldy fridge we asked them to remove back in Nov.

We had their lawyer sign another agreement which spelled out exactly what we expect them to remove and leave in the house since the sellers have been so dishonest. Their lawyer signed it and looked so embarrassed to have to deal with this situation. He also said he looks forward to fighting over money on Tuesday because he expects them not to do the right thing!

Why are sellers so sh*tty???

I'm sorry Kathleen.

My house the owners were slobs as well. You would think they would clean up all their garbage, but NO... they threw out most of the crap onto our front lawn by the curb, which we had to get a container for to throw out.. that is how much crap they left behind.. So we had our lawyer get money from them to get a container and the labor my DH had to do to throw that out.

Hopefully everything will get better once everything gets settled..
