when someone you love makes...
Something to eat/drink better than anyone else. Did u ever notice???
For example my grandmother used to make the BEST hot chocolate with whipped cream. My mom makes the best grilled cheese sandwiches. When I make these things they just never taste the same. I guess love is an ingredient and it does change how things taste.

Yup, none of us can make grandmas spanish rice like her!!! Or her empanadas, pasteles, acopouldios. neither my mom or my 2 aunts can or even myself!

This is so funny! My dh makes me a cup of tea every night, and I tell him it is so much better when he makes as opposed to when I make it! Plus when my nana was alive really anything she made me tasted better.

I think there's also something to be said about how you're just used to things tasting a certain way. Like I think my mom makes the best meatballs and I'm not crazy about my MIL's, but DH feels the exact same way- just opposite. I think we just have mental ties to certain things that remind us of our loved ones.

My great grandmother (my grandfathers mother) made the best anything baked. Her crumb cake was my favorite. I have tried to duplicate her receipe and it just doesnt taste the same. My other great grandmother (my grandmothers mother) made the best EVERYTHING! That women could make dirt taste like a gourmet meal  I cant make a thing she made taste the same.
Mom made the best soup and sandwhiches. Soup was always done to the perfect tempature, consistancy and taste  She also made the BEST meatloaf.
Hubby makes the ultimate best chicken franchese. I cant eat it out or by anyone else.
My fathers mother and mothers mother couldnt cook to save their lives. Whever I visited my fathers parents we always ate out. My mothers mother shoe leather would taste better. And the family has told her that many times

My grandmother used to make the best pot roast and mashed potatos, which were NEVER lumpy. I remember being a little girl and going on a plane for vacation and above the clouds, I'd tell my mom that we were flying over Babci's (Polish for grandma) mashed potatos!!!!
I miss her; she passed away 2 years ago.
