A thank you and a vacation question.....
After my horrible vacation experience, the cruise was wonderful it was dealing with a HORRIBLE MEAN doctor who left a message on my machine and scared the you know what out of me for no reason, DH and I decided to go away for a long weekend. I have been so down in the dumps since after this moron played head games with me, and had the worst migraine yesterday, and had hardly any sleep for 3 weeks, have not been able to rest easy, been VERY stressed out....- it is a wonder I do not come down with a bad cold .... We were thinking of going to Philadeliphia. Any ideas on where to stay- not to break the bank , but a nice place, nothing seedy or anything, and what to do there? We figure it is not too far from LI and I really really need this. By the way thank you alll for your hugs and well wishes and trying to make me feel better. You are all simply such nice warm hearted people.
PS Also any other ideas not too far from LI to go to for a long weekend?

newport ri is a blast. cute b&b's or hotels, on the water so nice beaches, great restaurants, mansion tours, cliff walk, 2 great vineyards and tons of shopping and boat rides.
its the perfect weekend vacation spot.
octoberfest is oct 7-9 or something around that

I definitely second this. I love Newport. I also love Cape Cod.

I would say go somewhere that is nowhere! Try to get a hotel maybe in like PA or NJ that you wouldn't feel obligated to do much. Maybe it will give you some forced relax time to just hang out and not have plans and things to "do". Relax and enjoy it wherever you go!
