I am newly PG and I havent taken a prenatal?

I figure when I go in on the 5th, that I will get them from the DR then... is that really bad??

No, that's fine. I didn't start taking them until after my first Dr. appt. which was at 8 weeks.

not to worry - I didn't realize until I was almost 8 weeks along....all i was tkaing was my reg mylti-vitamin until then!

I wasn't taking anything except my multivitamin until I saw my midwife at 10 1/2 weeks. Then the prenatal made me sick.

The midwives told me that right now I should just make sure I take folic acid.

just take a multivitamin with folic acid until that time.

When I called to make my first appointment (I was 4 weeks maybe?) the nurse at the practice called in a prescription for a prenatal so I'd been taking them from almost the beginning. If you're concerned and want to be on them asap, maybe your OB will do the same.

My doctor is the head neo-natologist for NY Methodist and she told me that I didn't need to start taking m prenatal until I felt I could (I had really bad morning sickness). Also, she said that the over the counter ones are just as good as a prescription, so you could always just go to a drugstore and pick some up.

Walmart sells a generic "Prenatal" vitamin, and my doctor also told me to take Expecta for the development of the eyes and brain. So that is what I am taking, both were at wal-mart.
