VENT VENT VENT......UPDATE

UPDATE ON MAX
SO they FINALLY got him to the vet, and I was 100% right, he lost half of each ear. He is so cute right now with his head wrapped and a big cone on...poor little guy. I still don't understand how two grown adults could have ever though rubber bands around his ears would be a good idea.....



Okay so the other day I see that my neighbor tied her dogs ears in rubber bands (he comes over to my house EVERY day for some love and a treat...LOL). At first I thought it was one of her kids that did it, but I went over and asked about it. ANd they said they did it to help air dry the dogs ears (he gets infections all the time). SO this I understand, it's common with a lot of floppy eared dogs. At the time I was thinking rubber bands!!!!???? It will cut off the circulation, but who am I to tell them what to do, and maybe they wond be on long.

Well, last night I was out for a walk, and she called me over to look at her dog, wondering if I knew why her dogs ears might be swollen, she thought a insect bite maybe.

SO I take a look, and low and behold, half the ear is swollen as hall heck and BLACK! Also the tip of the other ear is the same way.

SO without being completely demeaning, I asked how long she left the rubber bands on.....2 days!!!!!!!!

I told her most likely she cut off the circulation to the dogs ears for so long that the tissue has died, and she needs to get the dog to the VET ASAP to see what has happened, and possible have that part of the ear removed, before necrosis spreads and starts to affect the rest of the ear.

I wanted to SCREEEAMMMM at her, but the neighbors were there with her, and her hubby is a cop. I like this lady a lot, but this to me was just stupid! I explained to her, just like you would not wrap a rubber band around her babies finger, she should never ever do that to the dog Max either.

Now i really wish I had just cut the rubber bands off the minute I saw them, crossing my boundaries, but I could have helped poor max.

I secretly hope that when they move they will want to leave him with us...we love him, and he loves us.

So I am praying for the little guy today, that somehow his ears can be saved.

That's horrible. I would have cut off the rubber bands immediately. I know it's uncomfortable to do things like that but these people seem clueless!

Im going to follow up today and make sure he goes to the Vet..I know I should have cut the rubber bands off....DAMN I am such an F#$@ing Idiot!!!!!

So afraid to cross boundaries, and make enemies, but for Max sake I should have. I always feel I have no right to question people, that they must have a valid reason for doing things, I need to grow some BALLS!

At least you had the sense to say something. She may not have taken him to the vet had you not suggested it.

I am glad to hear that Max is OK. I would hope that her vet would have the where-with-all to call the aspca. That is considered cruelty.




I really do not think they meant to hurt him, they were trying to help him get over ear infection, by giving his ears time to breathe...they were just very very very extra stupid about the situation.....

Hopefully the Vet at least gave them a good talking to......

You would think that the vet would send it the animal police (can't think of the name right now) to their house.

That's horrible and abusive, and they should get the dog taken from them. This makes me sick... they should #1 make SOME people pass a test before having children and #2 do the SAME type of test for SOME people who want to own pets. BLECH!!!!!!!

You should anonymously report her to ASPCA or the Humane society

thats animal abuse! PLEASE contact the humane society! please
