When to try again?

Now that the D&C is done, when "should/could" we try again? I went for a quick check over today at the dr. (not mine, but the one on duty) and he said I could get my period in as little as two weeks. I am thinking it is more like 4-6 weeks.

We were trying to time it so that it wouldn't interfer with school so much, but obviously that didn't work. So, now what? Do we try and time it so that we do a transfer over Winter Break? Exams in January? February vacation? April Vacation? or do we just wait until the summer again?

I am so very confused!

it is so hard and the timing is just never right. YOu can try again after your next period, how soon should be based on how you are feeling. I know I need to take some time off. I think I did this cycle too soon for emotional reasons.

As far as convenience... are you doing a FET, it is much easier than a fresh cycle so you shouldnt have to take much time off.

NO FET for me! I only retreived 5 eggs and we used them all! So back to the drawing board for me!

I agree with Pauline...

It all depends on you. Make sure you are emotionally ready, discuss it with your RE, and then try to time it out, although that in itself can be so hard and stressful.

Re: When to try again?

I think you should try again when you are ready. It's different for everyone.

After IVF #1, my RE told me that I could try for #2 as soon as I got my next period. For me, that was too soon both emotionally and physically. My first period after the IVF was a little unlike my regular periods (TMI: it was more clotty) and as a result, I felt that physically my body needed a break to get back to normal. As it turns out, I switched REs and IVF #2 will be about 4 months after #1.

Good luck with your decision.

Re: When to try again?

I personally needed a BREAK. I am taking 3-4 months off from the medications, doctors and emotional stress. I plan on doing my next IVF cycle in November-December. Its been two months or so since I miscarried and I am feeling much better and more together. Time is the answer. I just think everybody needs a break from this - if not "you lose it". Good Luck in whatever you decide.
