Yeah!!! I finally made it to this board and I have a question

How much should a 9 pound 11 ounce baby who's about one week old be drinking? We have have been feeding 4 ounces every two hours. Does that seem about right? Thanks!!

Hey, congratulations and welcome!! Big baby!! I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I do know that you cannot overfeed a baby. They will tell you when they've had enough....so keep feeding!!

Re: Yeah!!! I finally made it to this board and I have a question

When DD was a week old i think we were feeding her 2 oz every 2 -2 1/2 hrs BUT i think she could have taken more and at the time i was scared to overfeed her. If your child drinkks the 4 ozs no problem without projectile spitup/vommit then you are good.

I read that newborns should be eating 19-30 ounces per day, and gaining about an ounce per day. If yours is eating more than that, you might want to ask your ped. if its okay.

Congratulations!!
My son was born at 9.10 and he was eating 4 ounce bottles at 2 weeks. Now that he is 7 weeks, he eats anywhere from 4-6 oz bottles.
As long as he isn't spitting up, he is not over eating.

WELCOME! I'm so happy to see you here!! Katie is 8lbs 6oz now and has 4oz about ever 3-4 hours so it sounds about right what your baby is having. When you take him to the Ped. ask them what they think. That's what I did.

The general rule I believe is 2-2&1/2oz per pound per day but I'm sure every baby is different. Hope that helps.

ETA: How many ounces total is he getting? I'm amusing you're not doing every 2 hours around the clock because that would be 48oz and that's too much.

Re: Yeah!!! I finally made it to this board and I have a question

Emily started off at around 4 oz per feeding and she was around the same size -- 9lbs 10 oz at birth.
