Powdered formula.....

I started using the powder yesterday instead of the RTF only because I hated warming the bottles......but now Ava seems to want to eat more....When I was giving her the RTF she would go about 4 hours between feedings....now she wants another bottle in less than three....could it just be because it is less concentrated...or maybe just a coincidental growth spurt.....should I increase her intake? Right now she is drinking 5 oz. I do have to say that she is much less gassy from the powder and is pooping more frequently than with the RTF which is good!

Re: Powdered formula.....

I know when marissa was on formula I tried the powder but she didn't take to it very much cuz it was alot thinner then the RTF so that could be why your daughter wants more

Re: Powdered formula.....

Have you tried increasing the amount of ounces you're giving her? I found that the powdered wasn't as "thick" as the RTF. Try giving a little more that should do the trick.

I use powder too. Hayley is 6 weeks old and is drinking 5 ounces. I was thinking of using the RTF because it is thicker. She is usually looking to eat every 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Sometimes she will go longer but its not often

I haven't tried this yet but my friend did and it worked for her.

Try weaning her off the RTF by mixing a little powdered (pre-mixed) formula with RTF. Slowly add less and less RTF until she's drinking the powder only.

Re: Powdered formula.....

When Nate was on Enfamil, he would not take the powder only the RTF. I don't know what it was but he would not drink the powder. Now he's on Similac Isomil Advance Soy, we switch between the two and without any problems. He gets the same amt with either one.
