I have a friend in Manhattan

She wants to start going to an RE- can anyone recommend a good RE in the city?
She has Oxford- should I just tell her to find one that is affiliated with Weill Cornell?

Re: I have a friend in Manhattan

As far as a RE in manhattan it really depends on a lot of things. The best clinic and some of the best doctors in the world are definitely at Cornell. However, they do not accept insurance. You can get reimbursed by your insurance but it gets complicated and it involves a lot of paperwork. If your friend is financially able to lay out the money , etc, then yes I would say Cornell is the way to go.

However,....Cornell doesn't really bother with clomid etc. So unless she is ready for injectibles and IVF....Cornell is a big step.

NYU takes Aetna, but not Oxford, I believe.

RMA is a great clinic but I am not sure how their acceptance for insurance works.

SIRM takes a lot of insurance plans but they are a cutting edge, aggressive facility with an emphasis on immune issues and high fsh.

The way I view RE's is that it's a process. If you know your issue, and it's basic than really any facility can help. If your situation gets complicated, you need to find the doctors that specialize in your specific diagnosis.

Columbia, takes most insurance plans...they may be a good facility to start out at. I actually had my very first consult there. They were just too far for me at the time, (I was working in queens).

IMO your friend should 1st go to an RE that accepts her insurance. This way let her get most of her tests out of the way, etc. Once she knows her issue then she always switch to an RE that specializes in that issue.

I wish your friend much baby dust

I just want to say for me its not complicated at all. No paperwork. You pay up front (on cd3) and then you will receive the paper in the mail (that is already filled out!!) at the end of your cycle. I just stick it in an envelope and mail it to my ins co! Its that simple.

Re: I have a friend in Manhattan

I have a consult next week with Dr. Cooperman at RMA. I have Oxford Freedom, they accept it.
