Black Tie Preferred?
DH & I received a wedding invitation on Sat and it says "Black Tie Preferred" Can he still just wear a regular suit? I just need to get a dressy dress, right?

Re: Black Tie Preferred?
Yeah. I would say a dark suit for him and a floor length dress for you would be appropriate.

Re: Black Tie Preferred?
Last month DH & I went t a "black-tie optional" wedding.. Hubby wore a dark suit, I wore a fancy lacy black cocktail dress (It was not floor length, but def. fancier than I would wear to a wedding that wasn't black-tie optional ..)
To be honest, hardly any of the male guests wore a tux, and I saw very few floor length gowns on the ladies ... but all the men had dark suits and 90% of the ladies black 'dressy' dresses!

I agree.
Also I hate this option.

I agree with everyone else. Just have DH wear a black suit.

Re: Black Tie Preferred?
I agree with DH wearing a dark suit...but for women, you can wear most anything for Black Tie. Most anything, in terms of length - from floor to cocktail.
