Cereal before 6 months
I thought this was interesting. What do you guys think. Ryan could never have waited 6 months anyway. He was starving - his tummy would growl!  He had cereal at 3 1/2 months. My opinion is it depends on the child.

We introduced cereal to my daughter when she was only about 3 months and she has no allergies at all so I don't know how much relevance there is to that belief. Personally I don't understand how they measure something like that. Are we to think that introducing cereal at a young age causes allergies? Cause that just doesn't make sense to me.

No, actually the article is saying that introducing them earlier (before 6 months) is the better way, to reduce the risk of allergies. I find it interesting since the school of thought is usually to delay introducing new things when there might be a risk of allergy.

I gave Jared cereal at a month. I thought it was too long to wait 6 months. JMO.

We all had cereal at 2 weeks! Honestly Stef - next time around I don't think I would even wait the 3 months. I definitely would not wait 6. He would have been miserable.

A friend of mine waited to give her daughter cereal until she was 6 months old. BIG MISTAKE!!! She gagged and threw up every time she would put the spoon in or near her mouth. The doctor told her she was resisting because she didn't like the texture...she was only used to liquids!
Now the child is 4 1/2 and still doesn't eat anything that isn't practically liquified. Needless to say, my friend now has a newborn and will be introducing cereal at 2 months!

I just starting giving Sofia rice cereal and she is 4 mos. She loves loves loves it so much!

Both my girls were on cereal before they were a month old. The same was true for my grandson who is almost 5 months old. I know the school of thought is that breast milk or formula gives them all the nutrients they need. While this is certainly true, I think it is difficult for anyone not to get hungry when they are on all liquid diet, especially babies.

I think it depends on the baby. Jack started cereal at 3 months.
