Have my nuchal translucency test this evening...
I've been so excited to get to see our little one again and haven't fully given thought to what this test will tell us and so this morning I woke up all anxious and nervous. First of all I DESPISE blood work but I'm also nervous about the results. DH tries to be supportive by saying "don't worry everything is going to be perfect" and it makes me mad that he says that when we don't know that for sure. Now we have no reason to suspect that things won't be perfect, I don't think he can relate to the anxiety we feel.
Has anyone else had this test done and want to share the experience or outcome??
Thanks!!

Re: Have my nuchal translucency test this evening...
Hey there! Here is my experience: The blood work was very quick.. they took maybe 3 vials. The test itself was just one long sonogram... my little friend was not cooperative that day and it lasted a long time! About 1/2 hour! All they need to do is have the baby lay flat for a few seconds and they'll take LOTS of pics to get the measurement they need. They are looking mainly at the neck area and they can pretty much tell you the results right there- since from what I understand the neck spacing is pretty obvious. The sono tech took the pics and the doctor came in shortly after reviewing the pics and told us that everything looked fine on the sono. Then about a week and a half later I got the blood results. Hope this helps!!

I LOVED having this test done because you get to see the baby for such a long time!! It was great. I even brought my digital camera and took some video clips of the sono!
My dr also guessed at the baby's sex (turns out she was right)!!
The blood work isnt bad at all, they just prick your finger - no big needles this time.
I'm so glad I had it done because I know the baby is OK and like I said, I got to see her again!
Enjoy the sono because the next time you see your baby will probably be your level II sono which is at 20 weeks! I had to wait 2 mos to see here again!
