Christening Gift -$$$?
What is an appropriate gift for a christening? DH and I have one to go to this weekend, and we are unsure of how much money to give.

It depends how close we are to the family. Our jumping off point is a $200 savings bond - it costs $100.

Most of the gifts we got were savings bonds in the $50 - $100 range.

I would give $100. I don't like giving savings bonds because they are yeilding such a low rate that a CD offers a better rate and is a much shorter period.

For a friend 50.00 savings bond mature at 100.00
Family 100.00 savings bond matures at 200.

We have a christening to go to this weekend and it's family..I will probably give $200 from the both of us..it's at Jericho Terrace and they always go all out with music, wine on tables, etc..
