Re: Govt Index shows Largest quarter to quarter fall off in home price increases in three decades
Yeah, but I'm not seeing any serious movement in the seller's prices! A few places have lowered their listings, but most have not at all.
DH and I were hopeful prices would start to drop after the articles that came out week before last about the housing market about to crash, but no serious change.
We were really getting depressed last night. We kept going farther and farther out on LI, and while some houses are almost in our reach, they are not quite at a point where we can afford them. And I must say, our combined income would be high anywhere else in the country but here, so if we can't do it, I don't know how anyone else is managing. We're both really starting to wonder if we can afford to stay here.

you need to wait longer then a week for sellers to drop prices
they need to let it sink in, see people are jumping on the house- this process takes time
it does not happen over night
stay strong- you'll find your house

I could have written this myself a few months ago. we can't stay on LI. we're not going to struggle for the next 30 yrs just so we can stay here. add to the rediculous amount of $ for housing the very high taxes, outrageous utilty costs, etc. well, it's not pretty once you crunch the numbers!
the decision was not easy, but we're mostly likely moving to NC.

the article even says that the bigger prices drops are coming- due to sellers still being stubborn.
