Users of the nubi insulated straw cup...

HOW DO YOU GET THE OUTSIDE STRAWS CLEAN??? I have gone through almost 5 years of straw cups, and I've always been able to get the straws clean, either with just the dishwasher or with the small end of the bottle brush. For some reason, the straws don't get clean in the dishwasher. When I try to clean the outside straw with the small end of the bottle brush, either the water just goes "over" the top, or the straw ends up filled with bubbles. Am I the only one who cannot clean this cup??? What is wrong with me???

I just bought a new nuby cup with a straw, but its not insulated. It has two handles and the top part of the straw does not detatch. I have put it in the dishwasher and used my Dr. Brown's mini brush to wash the "nuby clear plastic" straw top. My friend and I were just discussing how hard this cup will be to clean, but it is working out best for my ds...
