Repost from LIW - Gift Suggestions Needed

I'm going to a wedding this weekend and of course waited until the last minute to get a gift. I really don't want to give them cash. They would appreciate a gift more. For my wedding, she had my invite framed. I was going to have that done for her, but she did it first. Any ideas for a really special gift? TIA

Re: Repost from LIW - Gift Suggestions Needed

how about a honeymoon basket, or a wedding night basket?

wine, champagne, glasses, snacks, and a few other nice things? (i'm blanking on what else to put in there...)

I don't know how much you're looking to spend, but you could make a very nice basket relatively inexpensively.

She must have really thought the idea was great and did it for you - I'm sure she would love it done for her wedding too... just a thought.

That's a great idea. I could have it put in their room for after the reception. I would spend as much as I would give them in cash. She is the type that really appreciates thoughtful gifts.

They are moving to California the day after the wedding, so no Honeymoon.

Thanks! I love the plaque idea! It's ok to put his last name on it even if she is hyphenating right?

I don't know about that, some people are touchy about it. I didn't change my name, but it doesn't bother me if people call us "the Smiths". I have other friends who kept the maiden name that would take issue with it. Can you ask her discreetly?

I really wanted someone to do the inviation thing for me, but no one did and now I will have to do it myself - just like everything else wedding related.Chat Icon

As a side gift, the best gift I received was a small photo album of our wedding ceremony. One of our groomsmen's wives took a ton of pictures and had then developed at a 1 hour photo in between the ceremony and reception. She gave us the album during our cocktail hour...it was such a surprise and a great gift!!

JoAnne, I thought of something I got as a gift that was really special. I didn't register for it, but my mom's dear friend gave us a Lenox nativity and creche. It is really beautiful and very special, and something that I will put out every year and think of them.
