1st time moms who had a c-section

I went to the doctor today and he told me that he scheduled me for a c-section. I was wondering if any other first time moms had a scheduled c-section and if you did, what were the reasons.

Thanks!

Re: 1st time moms who had a c-section

I was scheduled for a CS because a week an a half after my due date, there were still no signs of labor. PLUS he was measuring big, they estimated 10 lbs, he was 10lbs13oz Chat Icon I was told that if I was induced with a baby that size Chat Icon more than likely Id wind up with a CS anyways. Im very glad that I didnt try to squeeze him out and have no regrets on making the decision I did. And at the time it was a very hard one!

Re: 1st time moms who had a c-section

I had a scheduled c-section on thursday 10/6. I had GD and so my baby was measuring large on the sonograms. That monday she measured 10/ and the doctors decided to schedule the c-section for thursday, 3 days before she was due. They explained the risks of her getting stuck in the birth canal if I wasn't able to pass her shoulders, and I just thought that I'd rather go the safer route and deal with more recovery for myself.

She ended up being 9 lbs 10 oz and I am so glad I had a c-section. The first day was a little painful but by the 3rd day I was feeling much better and was up walking around the hospital a lot. She was in the NICU for other reasons, but there was another baby in the NICU at the same time as her who was 9-7 when he was born and he was in there because of nerve damage to his shoulder and arm since he was big and got stuck coming through.

That was exactly what we were afraid of with me and seeing it made me realize that it must be somewhat common. I'm really happy with the decision I made.

I had a scheduled c-section also. I knew from about 20 weeks that there was going to be a strong chance that I was going to have to have one. My DD was sitting up right (Head between my ribs) Her rear end was in one side of my pelvis. One foot was on a ligament of my vag. and the other foot/leg was logged into the other side of my pelvis. She was beginning to push my pelvis out of alignment-talk about PAIN! There was no chance of turning her either without breaking my pelvis. so a scheduled c-section for me. I have no regrets. For me it was the best situation.

I had a scheduled c/s also. This because he was breech and at 37 weeks he had not turned. We scheduled the c/s for 3 days before my dute date (he was measuring big too, so no need to wait any longer.)

However, he had other plans and my water broke at 37 weeks, 3 days and he was born by c/s 3 hours later because he was still breech.

I am in the deciding phase now of whether to schedule a c/s for baby #2 or try and VBAC.

OMG! Frikkin OUCH! Chat Icon

My c/s was not scheduled but he was 11 days overdue with no signs of ever leaving. And I showed no signs of even preparing for labor.
Was induced, cervidil and pitocin, did not bring on labor either. He was measuring large and heart rate was slowing when I was in certain positions so a c/s was performed.

Re: 1st time moms who had a c-section

I had PUPPS and after an amnio proved his lungs were ready (and I was further along than they thought) I had a scheduled c-section 2 weeks before my due date...

They DR said he wouldve induced me..but my cervix was not making any progress... he felt if they gave me the dose of cervadil..it would be hours and a c-section would prob be the end result anyway...

*Turns out-the DR said had I waited til the end I wouldve never been able to pass him vaginally..

For me-I think this was the best way... DOnt get me wrong ...you will be sore, however if you take good care of yourself, I cant imagine it being any more uncomfortable than someone who tore or had an epis.

The night of my surgery I got up and sat in the recliner, the next morn. firsth thing I showered and walked around... TAKE THE PAIN MEDS THEY OFFER YOU- I find that walking around and moving from the chair to the bed frequently, helped me feel better in the end...always strive to do more within reason..(walk the halls an extra lap each day) (You may find it difficult to do these things w/o them..)

DH helped me alot at home...so I can speak in terms of doing it all on your own...

If you wanna know anything-even if its just about the procedure FM me

I had a C-section because my son was measuring large. I didn't want to try naturally with such a big baby. I did have a scheduled c-section for a Monday, but went into labor the day before. He was born 10lb. 12oz. and he was 5 days early!

Re: 1st time moms who had a c-section

I wasn't scheduled to have a c-section. I was starting to have an abruption of the placenta at 35 weeks so I had to deliver that day (because I was bleeding so bad).

It wasn't that bad to have a c-section. As Marissa said, TAKE THE PAIN MEDS! Don't be a hero. They really helped take the edge off of the pain and I was able to walk the halls the night after my section. I was sitting up in a chair the same day that I had her.

If you have any questions, let me know!
