A real restaurant...probably 5 months (besides his christening at 3 months).
When he was colic (2-3 mos) - we didn't want to risk bringing him out and making a scene. We would only go to places like Quiznos... If he wasn't colic - we would have been more apt to do so earlier.

James was 9 months old the 1st time we brought him to a restuarant....but the reason for this was he was high risk to RSV disease...so we waited to take him out into public places until the RSV season had ended.

We rented a house in the Hamptons when Benjamin was a week shy of 2 months. The whole week Dh was grilling like mad so we didn't go out at all, but on the night before we were going back, we decided to treat ourselves and go out for dinner.
We found this really lovely restaurant, it wasn't super fancy but rather a nice place. We went early, around 6:30-7. Ben was peacefully sleeping in his carseat all through the appetizers and most of the main course, but as I was about more than half way into my red snapper he woke up and started bawling. Thank G-d we pre-ordered desert, because of course we immedeately got up, grabed the baby and left (witih the deserts in the doggy bag. No way was I leaving without it  )
Overall, it wasn't all that scary. It really made me more at ease about the posiblity of having a life while being a mom.
Good luck for when you decided to venture into the world with your little one!

Julia was about 6 weeks old when we took her out and it was only to my parents house or my sisters. She was about 4 months before we took her to a resturant.

a few weeks old...but it was nice out so we usually sat outside for lunch or brought her to a fairly empty place. Once she got her 6 week shots we pretty much brought her everywhere.
