I had 2 kids already and I never even heard of doing that. Although its a nice gesture, I never thought of it.

Since I was induced, I knew when I was delivering. We stopped at Dunkin Donuts before we checked in and bought donuts and a big jug of coffee and brought it to Labor & Delivery.
Unfortunately, the Nursery Ward took it and the Labor and Delivery nurses never got it.
I did buy my doctor a gift certificate to dinner after my daughter was born. He appreciated that.

Since I was in labor for awhile and the nurses were wonderful we got them a big tin of coffee and a cookie platter-I guess being a nurse we really do appreciate when patients do that-it's definately not mandatory just a nice token of thanks.

Being that I am a nurse, it is always appreciated by all nurses to get a little something in "Thanks" from our patients. Usually food such as Doughnuts, cookies, candy are always good and even Fruit baskets. Dosn't have to be anything big or expensive. I intend on having DH bring in something for the nurses after I deliever.

I am an L&D nurse and honestly we don't expect anything from you guys. What really makes my day is when I get a thank you after all is said and done. We do get donuts & coffee or a pastry or cookie platter every once in awhile and boy do we love it!

I had to go in at 7am so we brought bagels and cream cheese in with us. The nurses were sweet - they made a big deal and put us in the biggest room, made us feel like we were getting special treatment.

Wow...that thought never even crossed my mind. I paid my hospital bill!
My care in the hospital was not very good. I had Jack at 4:30 pm and left the next day at 2pm so they could have the bed.

Yup I had DH bring up Dunkin Donuts for them, I would have done something more elaborate but it had to be easy for him and it was on the way.
ETA: also, they share their goodies with everyone, the nursery and the moms and dads too. I wanted to make sure there was something for someone else who couldn't leave and was having a long night too.
