Japanese Maple Tree

Does anyone know anything about cutting back a Japanese Maple? We have one right in front of the house that is beautiful but is way to big for the area its in.

Re: Japanese Maple Tree

Do you mean height wise or width? they are pretty durable, can you move it to an area where it will fit better? we have moved around our's and they were fine.

I have trimmed mine branch wise but if its the height that concerns you, that I dont know how to do, or can you?

Well width wise its to big and its getting taller but I figure we could buy some time if we could cut it back. So width would work for now. And yes we could move it we haven't been able to find anyone to do it for us. Do you move yours by yourselves?

Yes and my DH wanted to strangle me for suggesting it too. It took him at least 4-6 hours with breaks to dig it out- it was a huge root ball and then to dig the new hole. Def plan a whole day for it if you do it yourself.

Re: Japanese Maple Tree

lol - I think my DH will want to strangle me to if I suggest it. I may have to put this to the bottom of the list for now. We just had a new cess pool put in & the lawn is a huge mess. So we need to fix that first.
