I think an American Express gift check would be nice.. or a gc to a nice restaurant.

Does he have one of those things with his name on it for his desk? The things on the nice wood with the gold plate engraved? or a nice pen?

I probably should have mentioned... he's pretty well off. I really don't think DH wants to give him money in any form.

hmm, there is a thought.
DH was thinking cigars. but when we went to Jamaica on our HM, DH brought him back a whole bunch of real Cubans, which his boss LOVED!!!!!! IMO, you can't top real Cubans... so I am thinking we should get him something else.

Or you can go cutesy and get a best boss ever mug or something. I'm sure he's not expecting anything too crazy from you, and if he's well off I'm sure he has just about everything he wants. So something from the heart would be best. Something personal from you, I think. Like I said, engraved something or other with "best boss" or a mug or something. They have those desk things engraved and it has pens in them, double delight!

yea, we're such criminals DH was SOOOOOOOOO paranoid about bringing them back into the US. he spent 20 minutes at the store making sure that the owner took off all the cigar rings and gave him a fakie receipt for Jamaican cigars incase US Customs agents asked what they were. when we went through customs, they didn't even give us a 2nd look

also ive gotten him ties from ferragamo too- he loved that as well

I read this and thought it was cute:
I took a beautiful flower pot and filled it with 50 lollipops, complete with a ribbon bow and a florist fork with a card that said 50 SUCKS. The gift was nice and a gag at the same time. I used those long lollipops that are in the shape of flowers and I had to put sandy in the bottom of the pot to weigh it down. It was really pretty and funny.
