cooking question

I'm making steak pinwheels in the broiler tonight for dinner. It's basically meat coiled into a wheel and held together with a wooden skewer. Can I put the wooden skewer in the broiler, or will it burn? I tried looking online, and it says to soak the skewers for 30 min, but I brought the meat already skewered and marinated, so I can't take them out now...any suggestions?

Re: cooking question

You are suppose to soak the skewers in water for a few minutes so that they won't burn.

Re: cooking question

Thanks everyone! I'm fire-phobic, so I just needed to get some confirmation that it's okay. My sister put them on the BBQ and it was fine.

Re: cooking question

if you are worried about them catching fire...you can cover the parts that are exposed with foil.
