taking the baby out

how long did you wait to take the baby out shopping or visiting other family members? How long did you wait for you to introduce your young (1-3 year old) cousins?

Re: taking the baby out

I've taken the baby out to my mom's, the local Walgreen's, for a stroll in my neighborhood, and to the doctor's office... but that's about it. He's 1 month old tomorrow, and I'm waiting for his shots (at 2 months) before I take him anywhere where there are over 20 people in close proximity.

As for kids, I had a 3yo visit, and it was fine. As long as they wash their hands, and aren't sick, I don't see why not.

DD was born at the end of November so I didn't take her out for a long time. I did have friends and family over right away.

I took Julia out right away for walk, but I didnt take her into stores till she was 2 months. She wasn't around her cousins a lot cause they where in school and I was worried about her getting sick. I always made EVERYONE wash there hands before they touched her.

Re: taking the baby out

I took my son out right away. I just couldn't sit in the house it was killing me. We went to visit my mom when he was 5 or 6 days old, my dad when he was less then 2 weeks. We also went for walks in the park ( where I kept him covered up in blankets)

Things like food shopping.. I would leave him with my MIL for the first few months. I know by 3 months he was coming with us every week.

Re: taking the baby out

I had no clue so I called my doctor and here is what he said. No public places until DD's 6 week shots. Walks in the neighborhood are fine. Bringing DD to parent's house is fine.

I always used to see brand new babies out and about. I guess you do what you have to but I think you should try to keep baby away from most people until the 6-8 week shots.

I am a bad momChat Icon I took him to a store at 3 weeks. And he was around little cousins since the day him came home from the hospital.

He already went on an overnight trip to my parent's house out east. He loved it. Especially the 2 hr car ride. I think it was the best sleep he ever got and the best relaxation for meChat Icon

We have been going for walks since he got home too.
