DH's birthday is also New Years Eve - I let him decide every year.
We usually don't discuss it until after Christmas though

Michi, why not go into the city ? its always a LOT of fun ($$ yes, but hey its your birthday.. let your man splurge on ya  )
One year (before DH) I went to Atlantic City for NYE and it was SO much fun. We stood overnight and it was great because we drank like fishes and did not have to worry about driving or gettiing home anywhere

We are going on a cruise around Mnahattan with friends visiting from out of town. They have a few. leave port at 8 and it goes until 1 at midnight they set off fireworks over the statue of liberty. Cost about 200-300 per couple but I would spend that anyway probably.

we spent our first nye in ac. we had the best time.
