Anyone live in Port Jefferson Sta?
We like a house in Port Jefferson Sta but heard mixed reviews of the school district. Anyone have children in the school district. Specifically the Clinton Avenue School. Pros/Cons? Any opinions are appreciated.

They are the comsegue SD. I actually just bought a house there and have friends with kids in the district and said they like it and its good. I dont know about the individual schools, since theere are so many.

i dont know for sure which elementary school my best freds son is in but hes 6 and hes in comsegue Sd and its a great school plus her and all her brothers and sisters went through the SD and they swear by it. good luck

I live here, and have my whole life. I graduated from Comsewogue, and now my son is in the district (Boyle Elem.)
So far, I am very happy with it! I think once you get to the high school, there are the same problems that most H.S's have.

My college roommate grew up there and went through the schools. She loved it and got a great education.
I was seriously considering looking for a house there - but it's too far of a commute for me.

I lived in that district my whole life K-12.
I went to Clinton Ave-a very long time ago, but it was a nice school. The middle school (junior high at the time) was fine and the high school had all the problems schools can have. We had plenty of drugs & racial tension, a little bit of gang stuff.
Having my own child graduate from a different high school, I can say that the MOST important thing is parent involvment, most districts on LI are excellent compared to anyplace else in the US. If you put in a lot, your kids will do very well.
I think people rely too much on the school's reputation, much of which is false information anyway or it may not be revelent in 16+years when someones unborn child actually gets there. Every single school has problems ( on some level or another) & can produce less than perfect results.

I live there. I dont have kids yet so I cant comment on the SD but MIL & FIL both went to Comsewogue (lived in PJS) and they really liked it back in the day.
Its a great neighborhood we live in!!
