Can I give him formula for 1 feeding?
He latches on sometimes but most of the time I have chosen to pump.
I am not producing a lot of milk all of a sudden and I don't have enough to get us through the night.
Is it ok if I give him some formula? He had both in the hospital.
will it make him sick? I don't want him to starve.

Im no expert, but Ive done both BF and formula and my boys were fine with it. Actually be prepared for him to LOVE the formula

I did this same thing, for different reasons, and she was fine with it - and slept REALLY well that night!

I was nervous to do this but found out she's just fine - we still do it so I wouldn't worry!
However, you may want to still pump (if DH can give the formula so you have free hands) during the night to keep your supply up - I started drinking non-alcoholic beer one a day and take fenugreek (got it at the health food store) and it's helping w/ my supply. ...and as you know...drinkn lots of water. Oatmeal is great too!

I am not a professional but I know with my DD I did both and she was fine with it

It depends on the baby. Of course you should try the formula, but it may or may not agree with the baby.
Are you drinking enough water? Have you changed your diet lately? You may need to add a few minutes to each pumping to produce enough milk.Has the baby's food intake increased?

My DS is 3 months old now, and I've been pumping full-time since the first week or so. I guess my milk supply is just so-so because I always come up exactly one bottle short each day. So I've given him formula once a day since the very beginning and have never seen a problem. I was sick for a few days and got lazy with my pumping during that time, so I admit on those days I gave DS two bottles of formula a day, and still no probs.
I think it will be fine to try. Good luck!
