Question Friend/$$$$ Related

This is a bizarre question -
My friend stopped by with her DH today to see the house. While they were here her DH was roughhousing with my dog. They were running around the front yard and me and my friend were standing at the car talking. She in the passenger seat and me standing cuz they were leaving. Next thing we know Misty(my dog) jumps into the car but overshoots and literally flies into the windshield and, of course, cracks the windshield.
The question is, even though they didn't ask, should I offer $$$ to pay for the windshield? I feel really bad, but at the same time, I wasn't roughhousing with the dog.

Re: Question Friend/$$$$ Related

If it was ME in the situation, I would offer to pay for it. But, none of my friends would take me up on it, so maybe that's why I would offer so readilyChat Icon
They may have insurance and say a rock hit it, then they won't have to pay for it, anyway.

definitely a tough situation.. Personally, i would offer to pay all of it, but thats beacuse i really try not to let Any kind of $$$ issues try to come between friendships- so even if i feel like i should only offer half, i offer it all... and then leave it up to the other person to decide if they want to take it all.. or half. I mean, if its just a small crack, they have kits to fix that (i used one- it worked perfectly). Not that i go around breaking things often Chat Icon but i'd probably offer it all- most of my friends most likely wouldnt take it, or if money were tight for them, would probably just take half, at most. They don't have glass insurance, which is why I think I should offer to pay. And the crack is HUGE...it is a big spider crack on the passenger side.

I think just out of good faith and good karma, you should offer to pay for it. Then, godforbid something similar happen down the line, in reverse, then hopefully someone would offer the same to you. That's how I think. I always turn the situation around and think what would I want someone else to do for me in this situation. However, i would never tak the money.

Re: Question Friend/$$$$ Related

She seems to be...I wouldn't let her go to sleep for the rest of the afternoon. I was afraid she may have a concussion or something. But she seems fine.

And I guess I will talk to DH and then call and offer to pay for it.

Re: Question Friend/$$$$ Related

She jumped into the car while she was running away from my friend's DH and overshot it. So she just sort of flew into the windshield and kind of ended up half on the dashboard and half on the seat. She was just moving so fast she couldn't slow down.
