WW girls, question about eating all your points in a day...

Ok, I am having the hardest time eating all of my allotted points for the day. I am eating the amount based on my weight and I cannot eat that many! I always have points leftover, sometimes up to 5 pts. left. I just cannot consume enough food during the day. I know they say you're supposed to eat all of your points, but do you think it is screwing me up by not eating them all?

Re: WW girls, question about eating all your points in a day...

You don't want your body to get used to eating less for two reasons:

1) Your body will go into starvation mode and you will not lose as well.

2) If your body gets used to less, if you reach a point where you are hungry for more, that will stall your weight loss as well.

Small things can make up for points that you are having a hard time consuming. Adding healthy oils whenever you can, eating versions of dressing, cheese, etc. that have more fat as opposed to light or fat free. Making higher point choices at a meal or two.

If you want, post a menu for your average day and I will try to make suggestions to you as to where to get more points in without eating more food . . . .

Good luck- you are going to do great

ETA: You should eat all of your points meaning your target number.

As for those 35 extras, you can play with them. I like to use mine within the first two days of weigh-in by going out to eat and what not. For me I feel like I can enjoy myself and then by weigh-in "recovered" from using them.

Some people use all of them, while others don't. IMO, I would use all of them and see if you lose (which you should.) I just keep hearing and reading that you should eat the most that you can and still lose weight because if you get used to eating less and then you reach a point where you are hungry for more, your body will see this as an increase in calorie consumption and it may in fact cause a stall or a weight gain. Am I making sense?

Also, an excellent tool is WW online- the message boards. They are free and there are so many knowledgeable members there that give great advice!

You know what it is? I am as overweight as I am from being pregnant, I have lost almost all of the weight, but I still have a lot to go, so I don't feel like I ate myself to this weight, does that make sense? Also, it's so hard to find time to eat these days. Like, yesterday, I ended up having 10 pt.s leftover at the end of the day because I didn't get to eat breakfast until noon becuase of the baby. Hopefully it will all even out when I start work.

It must be hard, and I am sure once you are back to work with meal time built into your schedule, it will. If you are having a hard time eating meals due to time, you might want to try grazing- you know, small point snacks that you can grab fast and eat fast. Or, like I said, eat higher point foods when you do get to eat . . .

ETA: Yes it makes total sense. Have you asked your leader about this? That you did not eat yourself to the weight you are at and it is pregnancy weight, so you are not used to eating as many points? Ask them and see what they say. If you are not going to meetings, then definitely post this question on WW online message boards.

Thanks for all the responses BriChat Icon
I just joined last week and this week will be my first meeting, so I will definitely mention it to the leader. I am sure I'll be able to eat all my points once I am into my routine. I was literally looking for thigns to eat in my house last night. Because, also, I have no time to go food shopping, so I never even have anything to eat in my house latelyChat Icon My whole world has been flipped upside down by this baby!
I am thinking I need to use peapod.com to get my groceries and maybe that will help. It's hard to eat all your points when you have nothing to eat in the houseChat Icon

Rach,

Try to eat the min amount of points. Maybe even with different food choices if you cannot a lot of small things.
I ate myself to this weight ( I love that!)
So I have to eat many meals all day. Talk to your leader, and trust me once you get back into your routine you will do it. I didnt have a baby but with my surgery I was all out of whack for months but now i am back and ready to get hold of this. You will be back to "your" ways soon. :)

Re: WW girls, question about eating all your points in a day...

Hope things will be better for you this week Rachel!

When I first started WW, I wasn't eating all my points for the day. The leader told me I had to, and then explained much of what Brianne posted above.

Re: WW girls, question about eating all your points in a day...

Well, I guess I had a different experience, but the one week I ate significantly fewer points than I should have eaten (like 12 points instead of 18), I lost a lot more weight (like 4 lbs as compared to .5). My leader told me that slower weight loss stays off longer...

I just wanted to say the ONLY time I have been successful on WW is if I planned and went shopping-I find the best time to go shopping is after the meeting because you are really motivated then. I am rejoining tomorrow night with my SIL and where we go there is a Trader Joes and a supermarket so sometimes we go after the meeting.

Also, maybe try drinking to get up to the points.

I know since I have been on WW I don't drink much juice at all, though that is points that's not food so that will help you hit your target #.
