Is there such a thing as a "wireless" house phone?

like you don't need to plug a telephone wire into the phone in order for it to work, it works via frequencies from a main phone station that does require to plug into a phone jack?

reason I ask, because Verizon wants to charge $95 to put in a new jack!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Your house doesn't have a single jack?

Verizon will charge you like $40 minimum... even if they don't have to enter your house.

Why don't you buy a cordless phone that has many sub phones.

I bought one in BJs. Its a set of four cordless phones. Only one has to be plugged into a wall jack. The other three can be placed anywhere in the house and don't need a phone jack connection.

They just need power cause they all have charging stations. Its good stuff! Chat Icon

you can get a phone system like this where only one phone needs to be hooked up to the phone jack and the rest just need to be plugged into outlets.

or you could do cable phone so that you could hook ur phones up through the cable instead of the phone jack. you could also use the same type of system

That's just what I was going to suggest! We have the set from BJs too. They work well!

Re: Is there such a thing as a "wireless" house phone?

That looks just like the set I bought.

I bought this set... but it came with four phones instead of three. Paid $129 I believe at BJs.

I also would recommend going 5.8 if you have a wireless computer router in the house... since most wifi runs at 2.4 and could on some occasions cause interference.

Danielle and I have that - we have the at&t phones. The base is on the wall in the kitchen, and the 2nd handset is plugged into the wall outlet upstairs - no jack required

Our main jack is in the kitchen as well.. then there is another one in the office.. no jacks on the second floor...
We have a Motorola MA362, I think I've seen somewhere that it has sub units.

FH can careless about a landline, since we both use our cellies all the time, but I just feel safer with a landline, especially we are going to install ADT.

Re: Is there such a thing as a "wireless" house phone?

I am not sure if you can buy "sub" phones since they would need to be programmed at the same frequency of the master phone.

You may have to actually buy a "matching set".

And like I said... if you are buying something new... get a 5.8ghz phone. There are too many devices (like WiFi internet) that operate on 2.4 and could cause interference.

That is what we have and they are awesome!!! And not that expensive either! We got ours for like $60 bucks at Circuit City and it is the 2 phone system, plus you can get extra phones if you need.

You can buy handsets for the phone as long as they make them. You dont have to buy another full system...

I have that too and LOVE having it. We have the big base in our bedroom and the other cordlesses scattered around the house and one in the garage. We have a regular lan line as a "just in case" we ever loose power phone.

Those phones are awesome. And we got them in BJ's Chat Icon
