Now I'm scared...

I just had another Beta drawn, and while I was there I asked a couple of people about my symptoms disappearing, 1 was the OB nurse and the other the nurse drawing the blood and they both said that it's not normal for me not to have any symptoms anymore. I told them the cramping stopped a few days ago, and my boobs aren't sore anymore either. That stopped on Friday. They said it's not uncommon but not normal. Chat Icon I don't know what to think now? They really upset me. My Beta from Friday at 21dpo was 6,049. The only symptoms I'm still having are the immediate and dark BFP's that comes up in the morning on the HPT's and stinky pee still. And today I was a little nauseous from taking too long to eat lunch and my boobs might be a tad bigger, just not sore. The only other symptoms I've had, were the the breast tenderness which wasn't much to begin with and the cramps on and off. Do you think something happened to the baby over the weekend? Why did they have to tell me it's not normal! Chat Icon

I don't know why they would tell you anything- but I can share my experience wiht you. I didn't have ANY symotoms at all at first. My boobs were a little sore and that went away pretty quick. I am 28 weeks along and so far, everything is fine.

I know its hard not to, but stressing out is not good for the baby. Try to calm down. Everything is probably just fine. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Now I'm scared...

Oy... these people scare so many women unnecessarily. Your symptoms *should* wax and wane, especially early on. Think about it this way - in the first trimester you get "hormone surges" as the beta's increase. On the days that you have a surge your symptoms will be more noticeable, but on the days in between, they won't. Try not to worry too much... it's totally normal. I remember during my pregnancy, in the first trimester, I was CONSTANTLY poking my boobs to see if they were still sore! Re: Now I'm scared...

I had no symptoms at all my entire pregnancy...my boobs were never sore...nothing. I know how you feel I would pray for symptoms so I would feel pregnant. I think we compare our selves too much and drive ourselves crazy...try and relaxChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Now I'm scared...

That was totally wrong that they said anything like that to you. Some people have no idea how much damage their words can do at a time like this.

Try not to worry, wait for your beta results and dont jump the gun on anything.

It's very common for symptoms to come and go and to change forms.

What they said to you is completely thoughtless! Just like some of the other women stated, you hormones are all over the place so your symptoms may come and go. Lots of women don't have any symptoms at all and have healthy pregnancies.

Don't let them upset you unnecassarily. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Now I'm scared...

What annoys me is that they told you that it's not uncommon to experience fading symptoms, but then, in the same breath, told you it's not normal. Well how can that be?!Chat Icon Try not to go crazy over it because our minds can play tricks on us and make us experience or not experience things that are really there (or not there).Chat Icon

Re: Now I'm scared...

Also keep in mind that many of these people went to school and thats it! They never learn anything else. I have found I was alot more knowledgable than the nurses at my OB. I would say oh I read x..have you heaard that? and they had no idea what I was talking about. As long as you are not bleeding bright red blood you are OK. Just stay positive. If it makes you feel better ask for another beta in 2 days and then another 2 days. It should approximately double every two days
edited to add this info I had--your levels are great!

HCG Levels in Pregnancy

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following information is from Anne Frye (CPM)'s book: "Understanding Diagnostic Tests in the Childbearing Year" 6th edition

p. 108 "Normal hCG Levels in Early Pregnancy"
"HCG is detectable in the blood serum of approximately 5% of pregnant women by 8 days after conception, and in virtually all the rest by 11 days. HCG rises progressively from conception. Levels double on the average, every 30.9 hours until values reach 6500 mIU/ml (6,500 IU/L) at approximately the eighth week after the last menstrual period (LMP). After that the rate of rise becomes individualized, peaking between the 60th and 70th day (9 to 10 weeks) LMP. HCG decreases slightly between the 12th and 16th week post LMP, and then remains constant until birth. "

p. 111 "To Diagnose Pregnancy"
"A blood serum level of less than 5 mIU/ml (5 IU/L) can be considered negative and anything above 25 mIU/ml (25 IU/L) positive for pregnancy. If you are unsure, repeat the test in two days to see if there is an upward trend, which indicates pregnancy."

"Levels higher than expected for the weeks pregnant may be due to multiple gestation or inaccurate dates. ... Levels for normal pregnancy fall within the following wide ranges. You will note a discrepancy between the ranges of normal in the two tables below. The actual level can vary widely, and is not as significant as the amount and rate of rise, particularly before 10 weeks."

p. 112

PREGNANCY STATUS SERUM hCG LEVELS

from conception from LMP (mIU/ML or IU/L)
7 days 3 weeks 0 to 5
14 days 28 days 3 to 426
21 days 35 days 18 to 7,340
28 days 42 days 1080 to 56,500
35 - 42 days 49 - 56 days 7,650 to 229,000
43 - 64 days 57 - 78 days 25,700 to 288,000
57 - 78 days 79 - 100 days 13,300 to 253,000
17 - 24 weeks 2nd trimester 4060 to 65,400
25 wks to term 3rd trimester 3640 to 117,000
After several days postpartum nonpregnant levels (<5)"

"Results in Twin Gestation"
"Quanitative serum hCG tests detect multiple pregnancy approximately 9 weeks earlier than ultrasound. One small study (Jovanovic, 1977) found hCG levels in 15 singleton and 9 twin pregnancies were as follows:

DAYS FROM LMP hCG in SINGLTON AVERAGE GESTATION RANGE hCG in AVERAGE TWIN GESTATION RANGE
28 64.7 9.4 to 120 64.7 9.5 to 120
33 450 300 - 600 1,500 200 to 1,800
36 1,500 1,200 - 1,800 19,200 2,400 to 36,000
40 3,600 2,400 - 4,800 58,344 8,700 to 108,000
45 36,000 12,000 - 60,000 126,000 72,000 to 180,000
70 120,000 96,000 - 144,000 414,000 348,000 to 480,000"
