OT: SAT Tutoring and Fees...
A friend of the family just asked me if I could tutor her son for the SAT. I said that I'd be happy to, but I didn't mention my hourly rate yet.
1. What is the "going" hourly rate for SAT tutoring? 2. Knowing this "going" rate, what would be an appropriate fee for someone who's a friend of the family?
Personally, I was thinking 75.00 an hour. She lives in a very affluent area, and the going rate there, I've heard, is around 120.00 an hour. What do you guys think?
TIA!!!

Re: OT: SAT Tutoring and Fees...
I think $75 is more than fair
The major test prep companies charge $110-140 an hour, but that comes with a lot of resources specific to the company, so I would charge less.
When I have tutored privately, I charged $60 an hour, but this was for adults who I knew couldn't afford it...and I'm not a certified teacher.

Re: OT: SAT Tutoring and Fees...
My company charges $120/hr and that includes online resources and textbooks. So without those resources $75 sounds reasonable.

Re: OT: SAT Tutoring and Fees...
I think I'll go with my 75.00 an hour figure. I'm a certified teacher, and these people are friends of the family, so I think it's fair.
Thank you for your advice!!!
