Job Question?

Okay, here's my dilemma:

I have a second interview Friday with a family run firm. Being a snoop, I found out that the money they are offering is less then the current person in the position AND the employee paid benefits they told me they're offering is not quite accurate. So there's some sketchiness already...

I went to see some R.E Brokers on Saturday and I felt really good about one in particular. He spent alot of time with me and assured me that I could make some money doing this part time. Even gave me examples of individuals who make as much PT as they do at their FT jobs (which gave me lots of hope). The goal is to someday become an agent FT, and leave all this cubicle life behind me.

So what is my issue? Should I leave my current company, which you all know I loathe to pieces and start up at another firm that is already playing some games if the long term goal is to not be at either place? At least with the current position, I have some flexibility and alot of vacation/personal time at my disposal. I will definitely need that if I get a deal with R.E. (closings, inspections, etc.). A new employer would not be as flexible or accomodating. So do I stay in h e l l and tough it out until my boat comes in or do I take the chance and move on?

Given the shadiness and lack of time I would say stay where you are. I know you hate it there but the grass is not always greener. But it is a tough call.

My opinion - if you think there is already shadiness going on with the new company, don't do it!! As you said, you hate your current job, but you do have a lot of flexibility and vacation time to use. I think you're better off staying put for the time being - you can also use vacation time to go on other interviews!
In terms of the new job though - you said they are offering you less than the current person - did they start out at less and make more money now? Did they have different credentials - more experience in the field, higher level of education? There may be a reason they're getting paid more.

Sharon, from your posts, I know you hate your job, but I think I would stay put. I think in situations like that, it is wise to trust your gut. If you already feel like you can't trust them, it will probably get worse once you are working there.

I would stick with the flexibility of the current job to help try to build the new career you really want.
