New Wood Floor, how much$$$
Can anyone give me an idea of how much to put real wood down in my den. It is a pretty decent size, about 18x15 and I don't want to get laminate. There is carpet in there now. Just trying to get a rough idea of cost to see if it is even feasible.
Thanks in advance

Re: New Wood Floor, how much$$$
It depends on the wood you get and if you are getting it stained and also what type of polyurithaine you use if it is oil or water. We had our floors refinished and we paid $2 a sq ft. and used an oil based urithaine. DH installed Brazilan Cherry floors in our living and dining room and for the wood we paid $4.99 a sq. ft. and then $40 to rent the nail gun. I hope this helps a little. The guy that refinished our floors also installs and he charges $2 a sq. ft. He does a great job on finishing. The price might have gone up a little since that was almost 3 years ago.

Re: New Wood Floor, how much$$$
We just redid our den floor with laminate. Since we had cement under the carpet, we had to get interlocking floors. Laminate was the best option for us and I must say it came out great and so happy...
It cost I think around $2K but we were lucky that the installers did not have to level the floor or it would have been more. Oh and they had to redo the stairs also since you cannot put laminate on stairs so add that into the total..
We got our laminate at Gold Coast Wood flooring on South Oysterbay Road in Hicksville, they have beautiful wood to choose from if you go that route. We used Wyntec instead of Pergo..
