Kind of wedding related, but not really . . .

I have a co-worker that came to my wedding but gave me a card and explained that she owed me a gift because money was tight for her at the time. This is normal for her, since she always struddles with money. I kind of blew it off, but then she wrote the same message in the card. Still no biggie except now I am writing out thank you's and don't know if I should send the picture thank you now and just thank her for sharing in my day or if I should wait a few weeks until we go back to work to see what happens before I send it. I could always send a reg. thank you card if she gives a gift later on I suppose . . . I know stupid question . . . . just wanted to see what I should do . . .

I would send the picture thank you. Later on when she gives you the gift, I would just say thanks. Believe me, get all the thank yous done and out of the way. To keep one out and lingering would drive me crazy

I think if it was me, I would send her a picture thank you now, and if and when she gives you a gift, send a nice thank you card to her.

I had 2 guests that could not give gifts at the time of the wedding. One mailed their gift within 2 or 3 weeks. The others never did so I just wrote their thank you to say thanks for sharing our special day

I had a co-worker who did the same thing to me 2 years ago said they owe me a gift when i come back from my honeymoon Dh said dont worry about it because they also are very tight with money so i never said anything to him. well he is the one after all who set Dh and i up and his wife on a blind date so thats why we didn't ask.

I'm a teacher like you. It's hard to juggle finances during the summer if one didn't save all year long and even worse if an unexpected expense came up. I've known many a teacher checking the cushions of the sofa for change in late August just to get groceries.

If she is always struggling with money I'd assume I wasn't getting a gift and would just send the thank you now. If it was uncharacteristic of the person then maybe I'd wait a bit more.

I agree with everyone. I would send the TY now, and re-send another. Did you invite more than one co-worker? If so, they may comment on how nice the pic was on the card in front of her and she may feel bad.

It seems to me that you are understanding of her situation,so why not send a pic?I mean she did come after all to see the celebration of two lives becoming one,and helped in celebrating the marriage!I think she means well & will come throughChat Icon

I would wait. See what happens back at work. If you don't hear anything from her the first few weeks, then just send a basic TY card for her card. Otherwise wait till you get a card and gift from her (which i don't think will come) to send a nice TY. JMO

I sent a photo thank you to everyone who came to the wedding. If we got a gift later (and we did get a few later....) I sent a regular boxed card thank you note for the gift.
