going for my non stress test today - UPDATED

There's nothing to a NST. They just put 2 monitors on your belly one to listen to the baby's heartbeat and one to record any uterine activity. They watch the baby's heartrate and how it fluctuates over a period of time (takes about 20 minutes or so) to get an idea how active the baby is.

I will have one a week now until I deliver (I am 34 weeks)...they want to see when the baby moves, how the heartrate is affected. It is painless

Thanks Ladies - it sounds a lot more fun than other other test so far 
My other question is - if all is ok - they will just let me carry on, right? and if not, then maybe induce?

If all is well you'll go home, if there is a problem with it they will probably send you to the hospital for further evaluation. How far along are you now?

Well all looks good. I am having some contractions but nothing strong enough yet. ETA: I'm still not dialating.
I have to go back friday for a sonogram

sonograms and NST are normal for anyone who is passed their due date...I had them 2x a week after my due date.
I think the sono looks for positioning and fluid levels - the last one I had didn't measure at all
