2 oz this whole day -Just finished a WHOLE bottle!

Guys, I'm sorry to be such a PITA about this whole Coxsackie thing...

Yesterday Emily drank her bottles fine. She finished all of them but one and finished 4/6 oz of the one that she didn't finish.

Today she just won't eat. We've tried twice (she's sleeping now) and has only had one ounce from both bottles -- 2 oz all together.

She also went ALL night through about 11am without peeing.

She is DROOLING a LOT. We went through 5 bibs yesterday and all were soaked. She can't breath thru her nose very well (doing saline & aspiration for that) so she keeps her mouth open a lot and just sits there and drools.

She did have half of her sippy cup of water/juice so I'd say about 3 oz of that -- 5 oz fluids total.

I'm just worried about dehydration.

I'm gonna see if my FIL can get us Pedialite ice pops and juice so I can start on that...

What else can I do and what are the signs of dehydration that I should be looking for aside from the diapers? I guess I'll see how the diaper goes when she wakes up from this nap to see if it's wet at all.

Look at how sad she looked yesterday. You guys know this isn't how my little girl normally looks.

Ohhh-she looks like such a sad sack :(
I would def try pedialyte drinks, ice pops, even fruit-will she eat any fruit like watermelon pieces that are sweet but loaded with water?

Some signs to look out for (from a nurses perspective here):
A sunken fontannel on her head (does her "soft spot" seem sunken in?

Decreased urine

Lethargy

No tears when she cries

Poor Baby! It probably hurts her throat to drink or eat! What about a popsicle or something frozen, or Sherbet or something...

Re: 2 oz this whole day

Try giving her all juice w/o water. She may like the taste better and drink it. In situations like this when she is hardly eating/drinking it's crucial for her to get something in her.

Also maybe you can try a lollypop (hold it and let her lick it) so she can get some glucose in her.

Good idea with the ice pops, that's what I did when Roman had it and wouldn't eat/drink. Hopefully this will be over SOON!

Poor baby! I would try anything at this point (water, juice, pedialyte, any kind of baby food because it is made with water) and see if she will take anything.
If not give it until the morning and if she isn't any better I would call the ped. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon to you and Emily.

Re: 2 oz this whole day

Well, I managed to get her to suck on some ice chips. She has a tiny bit of pee in her diaper -- not much and not enough to have to change the diaper. DH just got us some pedialite pops and some pedialite juice so as soon as the pops are frozen I am going to try that and I'll continue giving her the ice chips until then.

She is crawling around and talking little bits here and there so at least she's not a complete lump lie she has been at other times during this horrible virus.

She also is eating some puffs so that is a good sign.

I'll keep you guys posted!
