I guess its a good thing...
Our area manager came for a visit today-(I usually dont see her- since I only work til 11:30am and her visits arent usually until somtime after noon...)and apparently.... another center in the area's books are at 45% (they are supposed to be under 5%-@ all times) and since Im just so wonderful at my job (shameless pat on my own back ) She wants me to take care and or train the bookeeper over there.... I guess hoping me taking over will get the ball rolling in the right direction for a few weeks, and then the person over there will be able to uphold the progress!!!
I guess I should feel honored she asked me.... and even more so- because Ive been doing this job- for a lesser period of time... then the other bookkeepers in the area (not to mention we have like- the most enrollment in the area- which means more work!!)
She isnt necessarily asking for more hours, or asking me to commit to more days.... but when I look at it as a whole- there is no way- its not gonna mean me putting more hours in...
Now- There is no pay increase.... but I will obviously be paid for what time I put in... and Im sure they'lll prob put me on the clock for travel time as well....
I work the hours I work now- because in all honesty- they are the only hours I have a sitter.... Even if they offered me "free" daycare.... I would only want my son in my center- and only when I was there.... so that really dosent help me in the putting extra hours in at the other place...
The only thing I can think of- is working an extra 2 hrs... 2 days a week.... (3 hrs at my center- 3 hrs at the other) and maybe- depending on my work load at my place... maybe put in 1- 4hr day at the other center instead of mine...
Extra $$$$ is always good.... but I really dont wanna take anymore time away from my son....I hate that I leave him for 4 hrs a day already....
Im not even 100% sure- if this is a choice or not... because she casually just mentioned it to me...
I guess I could just work my reg. sched. and on Mondays be in the other office and see how that works out- but depending on this other bookkeeper- and how organized she is.... I dunno... Im just blabbing...
Any advice...???

Tell her you're willing to train but will need to have care for Ryan on the premises if extra hours are needed. You don't want your work to suffer. If you have to travel to the other site, you'll have to bring Ryan & have someone watch him.
eta. since there is no pat on the back icon... for a job well done!

Re: I guess its a good thing...
How long do you think this training will go on? Will you be putting in extra hours for a few months or do you think you can train these people in a month or two?
ETA: Maybe if its just for a month it might be worth it to show off (again) how good you are- because maybe down the line it will be remembered for a promotion, raise etc.
Oh yes, forgot to say- congratulations on a job well done!
