Napoleon Dynamite question
As we watched it for the kajillionth time last night, we realized we couldn't figure out what year is the movie supposed to take place in. DH & I were trying to figure it out last night... they play "Forever Young" and "Time After Time" at the dance, which would indicate the 80s, but then he's on the internet chatting with babes all day, which would indicate the 90s.
thoughts?

yeah I asked my son and others this question and nobody has a clue...I think that maybe the point of the movie who knows! I love at the dance when he says "I like your sleeves" lol

I have always believed that too. I always just assumed that the "slowness" of the town attributed to it being so behind the times.

Forever Young was my prom song from 1988, I believe it came out in 1985(?) definitely at least a year before my prom.
I think that's one of the quirky things to the movie. I teach high school and there are a fair amount of kids that are really into 80's... Robert Smith of the Cure hair, day-glo, etc. I guess it's like some kids in the 80's wore tie-dye
