Re: Girls who fell in love with homes you couldn't afford...
Oh gosh ... well first let me put aside the 700-800K houses we saw and mind you these were NOT EVEN HUGE homes, they were what I'd consider AVERAGE
I would say that the house we saw and LOVED (it was generally move in condition, a bit small BUT so much room for expansion.. large level property, etc) was $619K
.. now that price alone "MAY" have been sorta/kinda doable if we REALLY PUSHED IT .. BUT the taxes killed it .. well over 8K

$785,000 on the water in Babylon oooh, and almost $10,000 year in taxes
We followed signs for an open house & looked...after that I cam back down to reality & ONLY looked at houses we could afford....less than HALF that price

It was originally $459 but they lowered it to $449 however we're not looking to spend more than $400 really so this did not help us.

2.9 million in Poquott.
My DH and I absolutely loved that property and home...it was everything we wanted.
I think I posted pics of it on LIW when we looked.

I know how you feel it seems everytime a nice house is reasonably priced it's gone before you can blink.

I fell in love with a house.... in my price range but the location was very dangerous and scary. I wish it wasn't in our price range!
