Do you get a lot of help at BRU when registering?

We are planning to register next weekend. Did you find that there was enough help with questions such as stroller, car seat, cribs, etc...???

Let me tell you this story- dh was laughing at me because I was so made!

We went in at about 7:30 or 8. The lady helped us for about 15-20 min with the car seat. She really was very helpful and knew her stuff. She was nice, but made a few comments along the way about having to clean the whole section herself.
When we ere done picking a car seat, it was 8:30 (the store didn't close until 9:30) and I said "now we need to look at strollers". She said "you will want to do that another night, it will take awhile". So I said, "well, we really want to do it tonight" and she turned around am walked away! And never came back! So we looked ourselves (I had a book) and had a few questions- she was helping other people and REFUSED to even look at us or answer any of our questions- I have never seen such a thing. She would say to us (rudely) I am with someone else, I will be right there" and she never came.

Anyway that is my story. I used to work in retail and understand she wanted to go home, but you know what? I worked that day, so did dh, and we both did our jobs. It wasn't like it was right before the store closed, it was an whole hour before closing!
Can you tell I am still mad!!!Chat Icon

I'd honestly do you your own research before hand....I've found that most of them have NO idea what's going on... and really it's a personal decision of what kind of stroller, car seat, high chair, etc. will work for you.

I agree. I did a lot of research ahead of time, had decided what I wanted and just went to look at them to be sure and then I added them to the registry.

I didn't really find them all that helpful...but, I pretty much had a good idea of what I was going to register for before I was in the store.

I thought that would be the majority vote--not helpful. I have done a lot of my own research and basically know what I want.

I did my own research too and didn't even need their help. Besides, half of them are kids who don't know anything about strollers or carseats.

I agree....they are not very helpful. Indeed, most seem downright clueless. The BRU near me (in NJ) seems to have an inordinate amount of pimply faced teenage boys working there. Huh?? What do they know about baby gear? Bring along a friend or relative with little ones for the ins and outs and Consumer Reports Best Baby Products and you should do ok!

They weren't that helpful to me either. The employees at Buy Buy Baby were though. Esp. the guy in the car seat/stroller section. He was so awesome!

I highly recommend picking up a copy of "Baby Bargains." It's great! Way more informative than the employees at BRU or BBB.

I have to say at the BRU in Massapequea when I registered a year ago - there was this younger girl with red hair who was working in the stroller department who was wonderful. So helpful and sweet. She spent a lot of time showing us how to use the strollers and giving us tips and things she had heard from others and what she sees as popular. I have no clue her name but I have to sing her praise. I went backa second time and she was there and helped me again. So I had a very good experience with teh sales people there when I registered.
