My Anniversary Trip - the Saga Continues!!!

OK - the plot thickens - I just called the 800 # for our resort in Mexico - wanted to see if there was a recording about the conditions, etc. I tried last night but there was a recording saying call between 9-5. Just spoke to someone who said that they have some cleaning up to do of beach, etc - water is fine, power is fine and they are accepting guests again on Thursday - THIS THURSDAY - in two days! I told her how we were supposed to be there next Monday and that my travel agent, when she called the tour operator, was told pretty much that all the resorts were closed, etc. The woman at my hotel specifically told me that different resorts were in different conditions and they were accepting people again in two days and everything would be fine at my resort!
What would you do??? This is where I truly want to go!!!!!

If it's safe, I would just go where you originally planned to go.

But, be careful, the water might be mucky and smelly..after I went to ARuba (for our honeymoon)..the water was not that great because of after effects from the hurricane..

Good luck!!Chat Icon and have fun!!Chat Icon

Hey Girl, if it's safe and it seems they have things under control, than go for it. The mayan riviera is beautiful. Chat Icon

Honestly,

and this is because I am not a risk taker Chat Icon

I wouldn't do it. Just because they are accepting guests, doesn't mean the grounds and surrounding areas are fully recovered. Then you are spending money for something that will be less than 100%. They don't want to lose money, so they will accept guests regardless of the conditions of the grounds. And who knows if the weather will cooperate?? It's still supposed to be bad.

If this is really where you want to go, I would reschedule your vacation for a time when it will be safe and when the grounds will be 100%. Or, if you can't switch the days, i would book a new location for this time around and then book this trip for sometime next year.

IMO

Friends of mine who are on their honeymoon were evacuated to a school yesterday. They are by the Yucatan Penninsula.

Re: My Anniversary Trip - the Saga Continues!!!

Hmmm - but if they are accepting guests, will you still get the refund? I'd say probably not...

If you won't be refunded, I'd still go. If you will, I'd probably find some place else to go this year and make it a point to make your next vacation at the Mexican resort.

(How was your interview yesterday??)
