Mommies - Did your contractions start off as menstrual cramps?

I've been feeling slight cramps all day - more so right now - they kinda feel like menstrual cramps but have been irregular and haven't tampered off. Did your first contractions / labor start off like this?

I was induced but those first contractions were yes like menstrual cramps but like times 1000. I almost thru myself out of my hospital bed onto the floor. But i have a low threshold for pain too... Chat Icon

Even though both of my labors were different, the one thing that was the same was I could feel the pain in my kidney area, not just in front. Good Luck though...you never know!

Hmmmm... yes, kind of. It started as light menstrual-like cramps the night before. Then, when I woke up at 5am it became more intense. I knew it was labor when I could feel my whole belly tighten and I felt the most intense pain that ran all the way from my lower abdomen to my lower back... it took my breath away.

Mine did not. My first contractions were clearly labor contractions. No mistaking them whatsoever. It did take a couple of days for them to get close together and regulate into "real" labor.

Yes, mine did... although I felt cramps the week before I went t labor. That day I started feeling cramps at 5 pm and at 9 pm they became really strong, so I knew that hose were contractions.

Mine didn't - my water broke and BOOM - full on contractions 2 minutes apart...there was NO mistaking them!

First pregnancy water broke & then it started just like Bxgell2 posted above.

yes...I was experiencing menstrual like cramps for several weeks before my induction. They slowly increased in intensity and frequency.

In actual labor, it was like that but more intense and came at regular intervals (3-4 minutes) and lasted 70 seconds but it was berable until they broke my water

Mine started out like menstral cramps and then they started to radiate to my lower back. I labored 8 hours at home and once it started consistently I was able to time them from 9 min to 6 min apart.

Same for me. My contractions were never more than 5 minutes apart right after my water broke. They just increased in intensity.
