So I have heard it is a wive's tale but was there any truth to your baby's heartbeat and gender?

I have heard people debate this online and my midwife said it is not true, but have you experienced any truth to the heartrate and gender connection?

Baby's heartrate was 157 today.

Nope, not at all. They didn't always tell us the heartrate, but when they did, it was always low (130s)...which would indicate boy, but I had a girl Chat Icon

Nope, Chat Icon 's heartrate was always at or over 160 early on. At the 20 week sono it was 137, which is consistent with the theory, but it has been high again at other appointments.

As my mom put it, I want someone to tell me without it being a sonogram. I was someone to just "know"

It is like guessing what is in a present.

Re: So I have heard it is a wive's tale but was there any truth to your baby's heartbeat and gender?

nope, this was not true for me..

My Chat Icon heartrate has been consistently high .... always in the 160s (in the very early days it was 170s and up!)

Even yesterday at my appointment (I am 34.5 weeks) his heartrate was 162 ..

This was another reason why I thought I was having a girl up until my Level 2 sono -- this kid fooled me all the way around! Chat Icon

Re: So I have heard it is a wive's tale but was there any truth to your baby's heartbeat and gender?

do the draino test...lets see if it works...
tell dh u need draino for your urine...he will think u lost it.
When I was pregnant with my daughter my sister whom was only 14 at the time was the only one that knew she was a girl-she wanted to know and I wanted her to feel important so I let the doc tell her-she carried that sono and hid it and never ever told a soul.
WE TORTURED HER.
I tried to trip her up and everything, like u said...I wanted to know and didn't want to know.
I was dead wrong on both my pregnancies--and this time with twins Im still not finding out--adds to the fun of tormenting family members.

At my appt. yesterday it was 140, but we still don't know if it's a Chat Icon or a Chat Icon

Me and my mom think mine is a girl; DH and his mom think boy. One of these pairs will be right! Chat Icon

all along my babies HR was over 160, last appt it was 150, and I was convinced it was a girl. This last appt it was between 140 and 150...now I am really confused! I still think its a girl but the baby really does not want us to know!

Forgive me for intruding, ladies, but you really sparked my curiosity: what exactly is a drano test?Chat Icon
