Re: spinoff to kids on leash/overweight in strollers
I posted a while back about a busybody neighbor stopping me in the hallway, and saying that she was going to report a family in the building to ACS- for overfeeding their kids. the kids are obese. i didn't know what to make of that, but posters here said it wouldn't have a very high priority.

Wow. I don't understand how a parent could let that happen to their child.

Wow...I wouldn't be surprised if that child had some other condition. That's terrible!
I work in a middle school and I see so many overweight kids. It's such a shame. So many of these girls start puberty at such early ages, because they are much heavier than they should be.

Re: spinoff to kids on leash/overweight in strollers
I have a frined whose son is very overweight. I don't know if I can blame her for letting him get that big. Her son is a great kid, but from a very young age he was a big eater. If she would stop feeding himn he wouold cry & cry till he got more & ate till he was full. He is a big eater to this day & she has taken him to his pediatrician many times & he does not put him on a diet. She does not buy him junk foods or sweets, the child loves to eat. I feel bad because she tries and it's to no avail.

So horrible This poor child is probably going to eat this way for the rest of her life. Your eating habits start developing early on. Her mother should take some control.

I think there are different instances to this situation. Your friend looks like she tried doing something about it - sometimes there is nothing that you can do - but some of these mothers on the show are admitting that they aren't doing anything for their child

I agree...giving your child nothing but cr@ppy foods is crazy. It's a sad situation.

Re: spinoff to kids on leash/overweight in strollers
my youngest brother was always a big kid. He was the tallest in his class by a head and always really big around. He played basketball and baseball. They had his thyroid checked and everything was normal. He wasn't eating anything different then the rest of us. We never went out to eat and my mother cooked everynight, but Thomas was never full.
At age 12, he became a vegan. He could not take being the "fat" kid any longer. He plays football and basketball and goes to the YMCA all the time. He hasn't dropped any weight, but he is taller and has lost inches.
